Meet Desiree

Meet Desiree Vida Flow Mindfulness Founder and Facilitator

Brain injury and mental health advocate, Desiree says Mindfulness meditation and Yoga have been positively life-changing after a traumatic brain injury (TBI) from a car accident in 2020.

Hi, I'm Desiree Colmenares, the Founder of Vida Flow Mindfulness. The practice of Mindfulness has positively transformed my world, inspiring me to step out of my 15-year corporate career to start a wellbeing company to spread the scientifically proven restorative power of Mindfulness.

After her TBI, Desiree experienced severe physical, emotional and mental health challenges daily. She says life became overwhelming and unbearable. She felt as though a rug was pulled from under her overnight, causing her to completely lose her sense of identity and self-worth, and feel hopeless about the future.

After seeing many specialists and having little to no progress, Desiree immersed herself in the world of mindfulness.

This was a complete game changer that significantly contributed to her mental and emotional health recovery in just a few weeks; giving her a new lease on life, and the inspiration to start Vida Flow Mindfulness.

Originally from Venezuela, Desiree lives in Adelaide and has been in Australia since 2008. As a seasoned Marketing & Communications leader with management experience of over 15 years across various industries in America and Australia, she's an avid meditator, has undertaken in-depth Mindfulness studies, completed a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course (MBSR) with Openground Australia, and holds a Trauma-Informed Yoga & Meditation Teacher Certification from the School Yoga Institute.

In her free time, Desiree loves meditation, salsa dancing, chanting and drumming. Although very energetic by nature, she loves sitting in stillness experiencing the shift from being a human ‘doing’ to a human ‘being’ these days.
